Higson are committed to minimising our negative contribution to the environment, and doing our bit for a carbon neutral country and world. As part of this aim, we offset all of our flights by donating to a charity called SolarAid.
SolarAid combats both poverty and climate change by distributing solar lights in Uganda, Malawi and Zambia to help support the solar movement and eradicate the kerosene lamp. People in these countries often use homemade kerosene lamps because they have no access to electricity. These lamps are very dangerous and a poor source of light - they emit toxic black smoke, are a serious health hazard, and eat up to 15% of a family's income. The solar lights SolarAid provide change lives. They give off hours of safe, clean light in the evening so families can earn, learn and feel safe after dark. We are proud to support SolarAid and urge other businesses to do the same.
